They activate the same area of the brain (NUCLEUS ACCUMBENS), where we process PLEASURE, INCENTIVE, MOTIVATION and POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT.

The same center of the brain that is involved with ADDICTION.

NO WONDER IT IS HARD TO CHANGE CORE BELIEFS!!!

Don’t shame yourself for having shame.

To break the addiction of shame, start noticing what your body feels like when you have shame. For me it is a heavy pit in my core that makes me feel sick.

By noticing the body sensation, describing it, and labeling it, you move the brain activity to the prefrontal cortex.
